OUR HISTORY
The Nene Rivers Trust started its mission as River Nene Regional Park CIC.
Over the years, our brand has become known for quality and innovation as it promotes green infrastructure and raises the profile of the catchment, highlighting the quality of its environment, design and delivering sustainable development.
The Nene Rivers Trust is a member of the Rivers Trust Network of the UK and Ireland.

RNRP is Born
River Nene Regional Park CIC is officially registered as an organisation, with the goal of delivering a unique, forward-thinking developmental network of environmental, sports and cultural projects, providing benefits for all users and visitors to the Nene Valley.
Assembling a team
The organisation begins the task of appointing its directors and putting together a dedicated team to fulfill the company's objectives;
-Promoting the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment.
-The advancement of education with particular regard to horticulture, arboriculture, wild plans and wildlife.
-The provision or assistance with the provision of recreation and leisure facilities in the interest of social welfare and improving the conditions of life for the community.

Let's get to work
In 2008, RNRP begins to cultivate and establish a suite of key projects and partnerships across the Nene Valley, including:
-River Nene Cycle Bridge, Northampton – replacing a burnt out bridge with new steel bridge
-Nene Valley Strategy for the River Nene Valley from Northampton and Peterborough
-Northampton Sensitivity Analysis and Green Infrastructure Study – to inform plans for sustainable growth of Northampton to 2021
-Revital-Ise project
-Daventry Landscape and Green Infrastructure Strategy
-Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment for North Northamptonshire – for growth to 2021
-Advice on land management for Environmental Stewardship Entry and Higher Level Scheme Applications to improve biodiversity
-West Northamptonshire Green Infrastructure Action Plan

Nenescape is born
• Catchment Sensitive Farming partnership and Countryside Stewardship applications advice projects continue
• Resilient River Project continues including ecological restoration of three sites plus volunteer training
• Stage 2 HLF Landscape Partnership (Nenescape) project continues
• Vision developed for Wellingborough Waterside
• Harpers Brook Working group helped to develop flood risk action plan
• Agricultural Discussion Group started to replace involvement in Catchment Sensitive Farming partnership and hosts education and consultative events
• Resilient River Project continues including ecological restoration of six back channels
• Stage 2 HLF Landscape Partnership (Nenescape) project continues
• Implementation plan developed for Wellingborough Waterside
• Harpers Brook Working group supported by RNRP has undertaken detailed mapping of catchment and held workshops to increase understanding of natural flood management approaches.

OUR MISSION
The promotion of the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, including but not limited to:
Supporting the protection and recovery of the environment from climate change, limiting the detrimental effects of climate change, supporting the elimination of the causes of climate change, understanding the impact of climate change on the natural environment and supporting the natural environment and communities to adapt to the changing climate.
The conservation, protection, restoration and improvement of the rivers of the Nene Catchment, their tributaries, their sources and the surrounding area
The advancement of education of the public in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment.
The cultural and natural heritage of the Nene Catchment
The advancement of health and the promotion and protection of the physical and mental health and wellbeing of the public.
