Slade Brook Flood Management

A project focused on flood management in and around Kettering across 2 tributaries of the River Ise. Comprising of the install of 6 water flow/quality monitoring stations in conjunction with the detailed design and survey of up to 8 separate sites across the Slade Brook and Loddington Arm catchments. This project's aims are to help alleviate flooding at its worst in Kettering and create more space for water within the catchment prior to the worst of the flows hitting the town.

The Slade Brook flood management package is a Water Restoration Fund supported project that will allow for the design of up to 8 sites across the Slade Brook & Loddington Arm catchments. This funding allows for these projects to be made shovel ready for the summer of next year. With detailed designs and ecological surveys being done this year. These 8 sites will look to reduce the pressure on Kettering when the Slade Brook is at high levels through leaky dam install further up both catchments, water storage ponds and reconnecting mis managed flood storage areas.
This project also covers the install of 6 water meters across the catchment, looking at flow rates to help us assess where these measures should be targeted to have the best effect at reducing flooding in and around Kettering. These monitoring stations will also assess turbidity giving a rough indication of water quality changes as levels also change. This data will help the local lead flood authority (LLFA) assess areas of action that are needed as well to help alleviate Kettering's issues.
